Monday and Tuesday we were pleased to host three Nordic Museum Directors here in Seattle; Inger Jensen (Deputy Director, Norwegian Folk Museum), Elina Anttila (Director, National Museum of Finland), and Margret Hallgrimsdottir (Director, National Museum of Iceland). The visit was a follow up to my trip to all five Nordic countries in February where we began negotiations for the loan of artworks and artifacts from Nordic museum collections. The National Museums in Norway, Iceland, Finland, and Sweden have all agreed to help us secure specific object and art loans for the Core Exhibition of our New Nordic Museum project.

The visit was also a great opportunity to give Margret, Elina, and Inger an update on our plans for the new facility and show them our current home. Rich Franko and Dustann Jones from Mithun Architects gave a presentation on the architectural drawings for the new building, and Tuesday they joined us for a trip to Bainbridge Island, where we visited Poulsbo and the Suquamish Museum.
