Welcome to our new website!
I hope you find that it’s easier to navigate, more user-friendly, and most importantly, places tons of great information right at your fingertips. This blog is a place where you can find the most up-to-date announcements regarding new happenings at the Museum.
Many exciting things are coming this spring. We welcome 2016 with great programming, events, and the anticipation of the new Museum’s groundbreaking. Thanks to the support of the King County Building for Culture Initiative and the generosity of many private individuals, we are able to remain on schedule for the construction of our new facility. Our funding gap has narrowed and we look forward to the launch of the public campaign in spring 2016.
In January and February, our exhibit Skål! Scandinavian Spirits will continue to entertain and educate visitors. Focused on the “spirited” traditions of enjoying beer and aquavit in the Nordic regions, the exhibition also looks at how this transfers to Nordic-American communities.
January also brings the 7th Annual Nordic Lights Film Festival, hosted in partnership with the Seattle International Film Festival at SIFF Cinema in downtown Seattle. This program offers award-winning films from all of the Nordic countries as well as Sápmi and Greenland.
I invite you to take a look around the website, discover all the new features, and share your thoughts with us. Enjoy!
