Parking & Driving

The National Nordic Museum’s parking lot is located on the south side of the building, and can be accessed from the corner of NW Market St and 28th Ave NW. Parking Rates are $2.00 per hour, and must be paid at the parking kiosks located at the base of the stairs.

Alternative parking options are available along NW Market Street, in the residential neighborhoods surrounding the Museum, and at the Hiram Chittenden Locks parking lot—a five-minute walk to the Museum.

Ballard is serviced by Metro busses 17 and 44. You may plan your Metro trip here: https://tripplanner.kingcounty.gov/


SDOT currently has construction going on NW Market Street west of the Museum.

Tips for Your Visit

Admission Re-Entry

Your Admission fee is good for the whole day, allowing you to leave and return to the galleries with proof of purchase. (Please note: all-day reentry is suspended during COVID restrictions.) 

Food and Drink

For the protection of our artifacts, food and drink are not permitted in the Museum galleries. Guests may eat in our open foyer or enjoy Freya cafe. 

Photography

Personal, non-commercial photography is allowed at the Museum, provided no flash is used. We request that tripods and other large equipment not be used in the galleries to prevent any harm or damage to other visitors or the artifacts. If you are interested in using our space for commercial photography purposes, please contact our Director of Operations and Facilities.

Coat Check

We offer complimentary coat check at the Admissions desk. Please ask the Guest Services staff to assist you when purchasing your admission. It is advised to not leave personal items such as laptops, wallets, or phones in the coat check. (Please note: coat check is suspended during COVID restrictions.) 

Lost and Found

Lost and Found items are collected by the Guest Services staff. If you have left something behind at the Museum, please contact us at 206-789-5707 x7000.

Wi-Fi

The Museum offers complimentary guest Wi-Fi while you are at the Museum. Please ask at the Admissions desk for more information.

Leave at Home

To provide the safest, most enjoyable atmosphere for all visitors to the Museum, we ask that you do not bring these items with you to the museum: large bags or backpacks, non-service animals, firearms or other weapons, and pens or markers. If you have any questions about these policies, please contact Guest Services.
