Cost: $85; Pre-Registration Required

German twisted cast-on, Old Norwegian Sock cast-on, and Twisted Half-Hitch cast-on – what do they have in common? How about Double Crossed cast-on, Estonian cast-on, and Latvian cast-on?

Find out in this 3-hour workshop where the focus will be on cast-ons from Northern Europe (including an old, and very interesting two-step cast-on from Denmark) all of which, in one way or another, share some common ground. In addition, if time permits, we will cover a few other cast-ons including an easy way to do the crochet chain cast-on, a tubular version for 1x1 ribbing and a sweet picot cast-on.

Skill Level: Intermediate-Advanced

What to Bring: Ball of smooth wool yarn in off white/cream and small amounts of two contrasting colors; Needles sized to your yarn and a crochet hook to match; a couple of stitch holders

Homework: This course will use the long-tail cast-on as a starting point for several variations. In order to make good use of class time, please review it before class. Video clip here: http://www.knittinghelp.com/video/play/long-tail-cast-on. If time permits, we will also cover a cast-on that uses the cabled cast-on as its start.
