Cost: $85; Pre-Registration Required

Join Susanna for some star fun! We will be working a few star samples from Vivian Høxbro’s brilliant new book Traditional Danish Sweaters: 200 Star Motifs from Historic Sweaters. Vivian spent years doing research on Danish nattrøjer, many of which are in the collection of the Lolland-Falster Museum in Nykøbing on the island of Falster where Vivian lives. This book is the result of her work which is an important contribution to the documentation of the history the Danish Nattrøjer. Vivian’s creativity is on full display in the contemporary garments she designed using elements from the historical garments.

As part of the class, you will get a chance to examine closely one of the historical garments Vivian writes about. She calls it the Seattle Sweater because it is part of the permanent collection of the Nordic Museum!

Skill Level: Beginner-Advanced

What to Bring: Smooth wool or cotton yarn with great stitch definition; Needles and a cable needle to match your yarn; Highlighter tape or some other tool to keep track of rows easily

Other Information: Knitters who register for this course should be able to work from charts and be comfortable using a cable needle. A comprehensive handout with everything needed for the class is included in the class fee. OPTIONAL: Participants who are interested in additional information about the Danish Nattrøje in the Nordic Museum’s collection, may purchase a detailed booklet-style handout containing photos, charts, and comments about this garment. The information in the booklet goes into much more detail than what is included in the book. The cost is $10.00 (cash only), to be paid to the instructor on the day of the class.
