Introduction to Papercutting with Anna Brones
Nov 21, 2020
11:00am - 12:00pm PST

Please note: this event has now SOLD OUT. Fill out the form to the left to be added to the waitlist. If spots open up, waitlist members will be notified in the order in which they signed up.

Papercutting is an art that spans history and cultures, from simple silhouettes to intricate designs. Join artist Anna Brones to learn the basics of papercutting and how to create your very own papercuts.

In this three-part workshop, we will cover everything from paper, cutting techniques, composition, and design inspiration. We will take inspiration from our beautiful Pacific Northwest surroundings, as well as the season, and you will develop the skills to design and complete your own papercut illustration.

This is a three-part course, held over 3 different dates. The three dates for these workshops are:
Saturday, November 21st, 11am
Saturday, December 5th, 11am
Saturday, December 12th, 11am

The materials you'll need for these classes are:

  • A craft knife + extra blades (Anna recommends this one)
  • Self-healing cutting mat
  • Printer paper (for sketching and practicing cutting)
  • Heavier paper (for final papercuts). Anna mostly cuts in black paper, but you can choose what you would like. Anna recommends Canson Mi-Teintes 98 lb (this comes in a variety of colors too!)
  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • Ruler

Please email Adult Education and Interpretation Coordinator Kate Dugdale if you have questions or need assistance.

This virtual, three-part class will take place on Zoom. You will receive log in information via email.

Cost: $36 for Members; $45 general admission. This price covers all three classes.
