Virtual Documentary Screening and Q&A: "Peace Queen" with Melannie Denise "Peace Queen" Cunningham
Dec 10, 2020
6:00pm - 7:00pm PST

On the night when the Nobel Prize ceremonies take place in Stockholm and Oslo, we are honored to host a virtual event with Melannie Denise "Peace Queen" Cunningham. Cunningham was awarded the 2018 Greater Tacoma Peace Prize and rebranded herself "Peace Queen." She was chosen as the Peace Laureate in 2018 for her life-long work toward racial reconciliation. Due to this honor, she was invited to the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony in Oslo, Norway. This documentary highlights her journey, the discoveries she made along the way about the meaning of peace, and how it can be fostered.

After the screening we will host a Q&A session with the Peace Queen herself.

Peace Queen is produced by McKenna Gottlieb Producers of Seattle and was recently awarded two silver Telly Awards for television excellence in the social impact and general motivation categories. The documentary was made possible by support from Multi Care, Tacoma Arts Commission, Bamford Foundation and PLU Scandinavian Cultural Center.

Cost: Free; RSVP required for the Zoom link
