Lightweight Nunofelt Scarf with Flóra Carlile-Kovács

Please note that this is a two part class, taking place on the following dates and times: 

  • Sunday, November 7, 9am-12pm
  • Sunday, November 7, 1pm-4pm

How do you create nice lines in nuno-felt? What kinds of silks work for this project, and what don’t? In this workshop we’ll discover possibilities of the nunofelting technique, leaving some open spaces in the silk. Learn how to secure the design on the silk, and how to felt them in. 


Skill Level: Beginner to Advanced


What to Bring: Notebook, pen/pencil for notes, 2 hand towels, 8x2’ bubble wrap – small or medium bubbles (you can tape smaller pieces together), 3x2’ cotton sheet (old cloth), 1 olive or coconut oil soap bar in a container, 1 quart bowl for water, 1 sponge, Felting sprinkler (optional), Apron (optional)


Other Information: A materials fee of $25 is included in registration. Materials fee covers costs for hand dyed silk and 19 micron merino wool for the project. 

 

Cost: $195 for members, $210 for general admission

Due to the intimate setting for this on-site class, the National Nordic Museum is requiring that all class participants be vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination may include CDC Vaccination Card (or photo), documentation from a health care provider, or state immunization system record.
