Learn the basics of weaving by making a small bag sized to carry your phone! This class uses very simple tools that you can take home, and is great for using those small amounts of yarn from your stash.

This 6-hour class will cover the basics of weaving, embellishing and finishing techniques, and multi-strand braiding. Please note that this is a two part class, taking place on the following dates and times:

Class 1: Friday, November 5, 1-4pm

Class 2: Sunday, November 7, 1-4pm

What to bring: scissors and a large binder clip or clothes pins (1 or 2)

optional: additional yarn

  • Accent / novelty yarns - note thinner yarns can be used as multiple strands for the weft
  • Worsted weight yarn (4-5 stitches per inch) - wool, cotton, or blends

A materials fee of $20 is included in registration. Materials kits include Schact 3 in 1 Magic Stick, Susan Bates Handi Tool, Tapestry Needle, Weaving Board, and yarn.

Cost: $125 members, $140 general admission

Due to the intimate setting for this on-site class, the National Nordic Museum is requiring that all class participants be vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination may include CDC Vaccination Card (or photo), documentation from a health care provider, or state immunization system record.
