Virtual Book Talk: Meet the Author - Winter Swimming with Susanna Søberg

Date & Time

Sun, Nov 07, 2021
10:00am - 11:00am PST

Location

This is a virtual event

In her new book, Danish author Susanna Søberg explores Winter Swimming, a common practice in the Nordic countries, where people swim in natural bodies of water all year round.  In our busy and technology-centered lives, contact with nature provides happiness and a sense of well-being in any season.

Søberg invites you out on the dock, gets you mentally ready to stick your toe in the water, and introduces you to the health benefits of “cold shock” for your body and soul. Winter swimming has been proven to give a mental and physical boost, improve focus and zest for life, pain relief and provide an effective immune system enhancement. In addition, winter bathing increases insulin sensitivity and activates brown fat that can help prevent lifestyle diseases such as obesity and type 2 diabetes.

Jump into the sea and enjoy the winter cold blessing of the sea water followed by the invigorating heat of the sauna.

Cost: Free for Members; $5 general admission
